Why does the Holy Spirit make you cry? Let us understand every moment we have with the Holy Spirit.
Can the Holy Spirit be felt?

At some point in their relationship with God, most people feel the Holy Spirit. It’s important to keep in mind that the Holy Spirit is God and that He wants to show us who He is. He can do this in a sneaky way or a not-so-sneaky way.
There are many stories in the Bible about people who felt the power of God’s Spirit.
“The house of the Lord was filled with a cloud, and the priests couldn’t keep serving because of the cloud. The house of God was filled with the glory of the Lord.” (2 Maccabees 5:14)
“Then the cloud covered the Tabernacle of Meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled it. And Moses couldn’t go into the Tabernacle of Meeting because a cloud was sitting on top of it and the glory of the Lord filled it. (Exodus 40:34-35)
In both of these Bible passages, we see that God’s presence was so strong that the Priests and even Moses couldn’t do their jobs.
Not only does this happen in the Old Covenant, it also happens in the New Covenant.
“Suddenly, a sound came from heaven that sounded like a strong wind blowing, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then they saw tongues that were split up like fire, and one sat on each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit gave them the ability to speak in other languages. (Acts 2:2-4)
This must have been a powerful event, since these disciples had never heard of speaking in tongues before. Suddenly, 120 people are filled with the Holy Spirit, and they all start speaking in tongues at the same time. (See: How to Get the Holy Spirit and Speak in Tongues for more information) (Explained).
Not only that, but 3,000 people gathered around them and asked what was going on.
In short, the Bible says that anyone can feel the Holy Spirit. I would even say that it is likely to happen at some point in a person’s life if they keep looking for God.
What does Holy Spirit’s presence feel like?

The Holy Spirit can feel like many different things. When you’re in His presence, you might feel tingling, warmth, electricity, peace, or joy inside.
When I first felt the Holy Spirit, it was like a blanket of peace wrapped around me. This manifestation was something I could feel, and it was a very powerful moment for me.
But learning to live by faith in God’s Word had a much bigger effect on my life than that.
We’ve been taught our whole lives to trust our five senses, so when we feel God’s presence, we make the mistake of trying to live by that feeling instead of having faith in God. This can be risky.
So, there are many ways to feel the Holy Spirit, but remember that if you’re a believer, the Holy Spirit is always with you and will never leave you, even if you don’t feel anything.
We can get so caught up in how we feel that we forget about basic Bible faith.
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the proof of things not seen,” says the Bible (Hebrews 11:1)
Seeing is one of our senses, just like feeling is. And this verse tells us that faith makes the things we hope for happen even when we don’t have proof.
So, even though we may sometimes feel the Holy Spirit’s wonderful presence, we shouldn’t live by how we feel. Instead, we should live by faith. So the Bible tells us to live and walk by faith, not by what we see (2 Corinthians 5:7).

Why Does the Holy Spirit Make You Cry?
Why do I cry when I feel the holy spirit? You might cry when you feel the Holy Spirit because the Spirit of God is multi-dimensional. He can get in touch with our minds, bodies, and feelings. Sometimes, these things can be so powerful that all we can do is cry.
The Bible tells us that people are made up of three parts: the spirit, the soul, and the body.
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 5:23)
The Holy Spirit lives in our spirit, which the Bible calls our “inner man.” Our mind, will, conscience, and feelings make up our soul. The Bible tells us that the part of us that needs to be renewed in order for us to change is our soul. Lastly, the most obvious one is our body, which is our home while we are on earth.
(I’d love to go into more detail, but that would just lead us down a rabbit hole. If you’re interested, you can read an article where I talk about this a little more. The title of the article is “3 Easy Ways to Refresh Your Mind.”
Now, I told you all of this to explain that when we feel, think, or feel the Holy Spirit, it is because the Spirit of God is pouring out of our spirit and into our soul and body.
For instance, when we read the Bible and have a “aha!” moment, the Holy Spirit is giving us insight and touching our souls. When He shows us something and we can’t stop crying, it’s because the Holy Spirit is touching our soul and, more specifically, our emotions. When we feel Him in our bodies, it’s because the Holy Spirit is pouring out of our souls and into our bodies.
This is why you might be crying when the Holy Spirit comes over you.
Why do I no longer feel the Holy Spirit?
It doesn’t matter if you no longer feel the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us to walk by faith and not by what our five senses tell us. Feeling the Holy Spirit is meant to be a rare event. It was never meant to be a way of life for Christians.
Followers of Jesus are meant to live by faith, not by what they see, hear, touch, smell, or taste. The Bible tells us this over and over again and makes it clear that faith is different from feelings.
“Because we don’t walk by sight, but by faith.” (Colossians 5:7)
“Because in it, God’s righteousness is shown from faith to faith, just as it says in the Bible, “The righteous will live by faith.” (Romans 1:17)
“Now faith is the substance of what is hoped for and the proof of what is not seen,” says the Bible. (1 Heb. 11:1)
Notice how these verses show the difference between faith and what we can see and feel. Hebrews tells us that faith gives our hope substance even when we can’t see proof of it (a.k.a physical senses). Faith is even called “the proof of things not seen” in the Bible. In other words, faith takes the place of physical proof.
Faith can give you a sense of security that is stronger than what you can feel or see. God and His promises can give you more confidence than the ground you stand on.
In fact, the Bible tells us that very thing. “Heaven and earth will end, but My words will never end,” says the Bible (Matthew 24:35). And where does faith again come from? “Belief comes from hearing, and hearing comes from God’s word.” (Romans 10:17)
So, if you don’t feel the Holy Spirit in your life right now, it doesn’t really matter if you do or don’t. What makes a difference is what you think, though.
Do you believe that God is with you and that He will never leave you or forget about you? (Matthew 28:20 and Hebrews 13:5) Do you think that God’s Spirit lives in you? (Colossians 3:16) Do you think that Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection can help you get back in touch with God? (2 Corinthians 5:17–21, John 17:3) Do you agree that “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world”? (1 John 4:4)
If you believe these truths, it doesn’t matter if you feel Holy Spirit or not.
What you and I need in our walk with God is not to feel Him more so that we can get more goosebumps. Instead, we need to believe Him more so that we can develop a knowing inside of us that can’t be shaken.
