There’s a verse in the bible that says something along the lines of “the tongue has the whole power of life and it is it’s what it does to us; it can bring death or life, it can strengthen our words or make them weak.”
What scared me at first was the boldness of such a statement. I have come to firmly believe that our vocabulary can corrupt our thought life as well as our actions. Our deeds are often done with the power of our own words.
There are many levels to this statement and I encourage you to look into this matter further. The first level is the physical. The tongue is the main instrument of ACTION i.e. what we DO. Saying something wrong, whether in anger or with a fence or even just kind words of encouragement, starts the ball of action moving ahead. It starts the subconscious switch to work and our deed(s) will soon follow.
The Power of Life
Our mental body is very much a reflection of our decision to live life in the ways of the Lord. If we were warned by God in His Word our way would be clear and we would not be misled.
Proverbs 17:22 (KJV) says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
When we give out what we really mean, it affects other people and triggers their minds to think on our words and start to believe what we are saying. It sets in motion a chain reaction that the devil will definitely benefit from, whether you realize it or not!
The LEVEL OF GRACE

The grace of God is so magnificent that no man can behold it. It fills the entire cosmos and it is all in our reach! Jesus died and rose again for our sins…(JV) Romans 10:9 (KJV) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confess unto salvation.
It’s such a wonderful thing to have such a loving, gracious, devoted, gracious God who loves us. It is such a shame that we often don’t remember what He has done for us! We have such shortcomings and this is what is holding us back from enjoying the GRACE that Jesus has given us.
THE GRACE OF CHRIST’S ENDURING LIFE IN UNTO INDOING
Paul describes in his letter to the Romans some of the things that Jesus endured in his resurrected body on the cross, namely the despised/hated/feared, etc. The end of such suffering would be a new life in Jesus and the resurrection.
For Jesus will allow you to enter into his grace when you see yourselves as dead to the lusts of this world, but alive unto God in the Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)
Jesus is promised to be with us forever. When we suffer for doing good things and when we do not do evil back we sin, but when we repent even if we suffer for doing evil we are truly made new. This is the true salvation experience. True repentance is the power of God that tears down the evil home, stable, or environment and leaves within something better. The end result is not one of the former but a rebirth into a better reality.
Over 100 years ago, a German Philippianpastor named Eckhart Tolle wrote “Whatever good things we may have received today, these were just like the good things that were spoken of by Jesus before time began. And whatever evil things were spoken of by Jesus, these were also as the evil things that were spoken of by Paul and Silas and the other disciples before time began.”
From the Book of Ephesians, we learn that since the legal doctrines (of the Jews) had not endured, so also these following are not of Christ:
II Corinthians 11:22 (KJV) Having then gifted differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them in the ministration of the word 2 Corinthians 12:7 (KJV) For he made us both counsels and sent us to be imitators of his church; yet the same Corinthians 10:1 (KJV) Having received the gospel, whether in the body (a.k.a.rustica) or out of the gate (b.e.ontinuODY), preached the unsearchable riches of God.
You see, the abundance of God’s grace is such that He is mercy-teaching to us before time begins (ould not stop then). IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to ALWAYS WHOLEheartedly heed what Christ has said in His Word in order to truly GAIN our victory in Christ-likeness.
